JLMS celebrated our JUNE Students of the Month a little early today! This bunch of students concludes our SOTM celebrations for the year. Lewiston 4th Graders had a great time visiting the Besser Museum in Alpena recently! They explored the brand new renovated history exhibits, saw a planetarium show, and went digging for fossils. Thanks to Brush Creek Mill for sponsoring this awesome trip.

Dear Families, I’m writing to share some positive news regarding the school calendar. Governor Whitmer is expected to sign legislation that will forgive the instructional days we missed due to the Ice Storm. As a result, the last day of school will be a half-day on Wednesday, June 11th. We are deeply grateful for your patience and understanding during this time. We also want to thank our state legislators, especially Rep. Cavitt, Sen. Damoose, and Sen. Brinks for working together on a solution that supports our students, families, and educators. It’s a testament to what we can accomplish when we come together as a community. We look forward to finishing the school year strong. Your Partner in Education, Katy Xenakis-Makowski, Superintendent

The seventh and eighth graders got to enjoy their class trip to the west side of the state this week! We stopped at the Sky Bridge at Boyne🌉, then headed to Great Wolf Lodge🐺. After some time at the arcade🕹️ and water park🌊, we hiked to the movie theater🍿 to watch the new Lilo and Stitch. On our way back home, we stopped at the mall for some shopping🛍️. It was an eventful trip, and we loved the community time with these awesome kiddos. Thank you to all of the chaperones who donated their time for this trip. And thank you to Mrs. Huff and Mrs. Tallman, this trip wouldn't be possible without you two putting in so many extra hours to organize it!

This week, Lewiston kindergarten students took time to reflect on all of the books they've read this year. To start the week, they chose their favorite book from our curriculum. Then they had to write about it. To celebrate all of their learning, Mrs. G recorded students talking about their favorite book! Click the link to check it out! 📕 https://youtu.be/S9btHiJmogM?si=NvVktjAfWWjZbAhh
