Due to the icy road conditions, JLAS will be closed today, Thursday, March 6. Teacher professional development will be rescheduled to an after school time and transition night activities will be determined later today.

7th grade scientists are learning about genetics. Today they participated in a tasting lab to see if they carry a gene to taste a specific substance. Some couldn't taste anything at all, others had a different experience, as you might be able to tell by the photos. By the way, did you know that some people have a gene that makes cilantro taste like soap? We might try that next.

Thank you Rep. Cavitt for visiting Lewiston School to see the awesome teaching and learning taking place. He got to read to the 1st grade and meet lots of people!

The JL Pep Band played their final game of the year last Thursday, accompanied by a few members of our middle school band! Thank you to all of the students who were able to perform with our group this year and to all of the middle school members who were brave enough to join us for the game. Fantastic job by all, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in the stands next season to support our students!

JL Robotics team had their first competition this weekend!
The Army of Sum learned a lot and will be continuing to work on the robot, gearing up for the next competition in Traverse City!

Students from the High School had the opportunity to go see Shrek The Musical put on by students at Traverse City St. Francis High School. It was a great experience for our kids. Thanks to Mrs. Nowak for organizing the opportunity.


The 6th-8th grade STEM trip was a huge success!
The STEM trip consisted of:
- Two keynote speakers (the girls loved the nutritionist) 🥗🍖🍱
- Interest-based breakout rooms (my girls had the Day in the Life of a Vet Tech🐢🩺 and dipping 3D shapes into bubbles🫧
- A science fair that had taste-changing fruit, legos, mushrooms, plants, and more! 😝🧱🍄🟫🌱
- And we wrapped up our day touring TechSmith so the girls could see what a real STEM-based office looks like! 💻

Thursday night’s fun activities were “Well-Done’s” Magic Show and a bonfire with songs and skits.

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's our Assistant Principal!! There was a Mr. Serba sighting at 6th grade camp today. Mr. Serba had lunch and hung out with 6th grade students at camp! It was such an Amazing time!
