On Thursday, the Johannesburg 4th grade went to the Oden State Fish Hatchery. Students enjoyed the "Nature Awaits" presentation. Students learned about natural landscapes, how the state parks belong to everyone, and using observation skills. Students participated in an observation activity using their sense of hearing, smell and touch. They were able to feed rainbow trout and brown trout. Students were able to observe otter, and ducks in their natural habitat. The presentation ended with students able to find and sort various organisms from the creek.

Hello Cardinal Families!
You may have heard about the state education budget not being done and are curious about its impact on our district - it has been difficult to navigate, but we are doing all we can to keep the focus on doing what’s best for our students. For information on the budget, please read this letter https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MrCwMzgDYtgSm59fy3qTISpfA6wP6lyx/view?usp=sharing
While the district does not have anything on the ballot this November, there is a CTE millage on the ballot from the ESD that directly impacts our district. Read more about the impact of the CTE millage here: https://www.cteforcop.org/ and be sure to watch the video!
Thank you for your continued support and partnership—it truly makes a difference for our students.

Spotlight on Staff!

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, residents of the Cheboygan-Otsego-Presque Isle Educational Service District (COPESD) will vote on a career and technical education (CTE) millage. 🗳️
If approved, 100% of the revenue generated by this levy for the next six years would support the expansion and enhancement of vocational education programs in schools throughout the region.
Under this proposal, industry partners would advise COPESD and local school districts on CTE curriculum and program development to align student learning with the current and emerging needs of our regional workforce.
Find more information about the proposed CTE millage, including answers to frequently asked questions, by visiting https://www.cteforcop.org.
