J-L AREA SCHOOLS!

Membership in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. The NHS has worked hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers and the community. Chapters in high schools across the nation strive to give practical meaning to the Society's goals of scholarship, leadership, service and character. No student is inducted simply because of high academic average. The NHS strives to recognize the total student, one who excels in all these areas. Selection to NHS is a privilege, not a right. Students do not apply for membership; instead they provide information to be used by the Faculty Council to support their candidacy for membership. Candidates must have been in attendance for a period equivalent to one semester of school at Johannesburg-Lewiston High School. Selection for induction into the National Honor Society is based on four criteria:
Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character.
